Interim Federal Health Program (IFHP)
About
The Interim Federal Health Program (IFHP) provides temporary healthcare coverage for eligible refugees, asylum seekers, and other vulnerable populations in Canada who are not yet covered by provincial or territorial health insurance plans. The program ensures that these individuals have access to essential and urgent healthcare services, including medical and diagnostic services, hospital services, and supplemental coverage such as prescription drugs and emergency dental care. At North Star Cardiology, we are proud to participate in the IFHP, offering specialized pediatric and fetal cardiology services to those in need.
How it Works
The IFHP offers coverage for three types of benefits: basic coverage (similar to provincial and territorial health insurance), supplemental coverage (similar to extended health insurance), and prescription drug coverage. To access these services at North Star Cardiology, eligible individuals must present their IFHP certificate along with identification at the time of their appointment. Our administrative team will assist in verifying coverage and ensuring that patients receive the necessary care without financial barriers.
How it Works
The IFHP is designed to support refugees, asylum seekers, and other vulnerable groups who are not yet eligible for provincial or territorial health insurance. This includes individuals awaiting a decision on their refugee claim or those participating in certain resettlement programs. By accepting IFHP, North Star Cardiology ensures that all eligible patients receive high-quality cardiology care during their transition period.
